Abstract

This review presents Emilio Lamo de Espinosa´s 2021 book titled Between Eagles and Dragons. The decline of the west. We begin by referring to the three “hats” (or “thematic profiles”) that we can identify in the published works of this author: that of university academic, that of politician, and that of committed thinktankero. We highlight how this specific text (which compiles, updates, and completes previous research) is constituted as one of the best examples, along with Under doors of fire: the new international disorder, of works written by Lamo de Espinosa wearing his commited thintankero “hat”. We analyze the content that we can find in its prologue, introduction, seven chapters, epilogue, and post scriptum. And we conclude by encouraging the enlightened reader who feels legitimately concerned by the current state of the world (and who also intends to understand it) to acquire it and read it with attention.
